Mah Belle

Per requests from those who aren't lucky enough to see my pudge every day. I've finally reached a point that I don't feel like the shape of my body is the poster child for a Pepto Bismol commercial or chimichanga lovers anonymous. There is actually some indication that life is happening inside. Watching one's waistline gradually disappear, is like watching a best friend pack up and move away forever. Good bye muscles. Good bye taut as a drum skin. Good bye normal appearing belly button. See you again...never.

A Cluster of Things

So much to do, so little time. It's been such a long time since I've blogged, floating baby has grown right before my very eyes! A few weeks ago, we (Kelly) started working on the baby room. We ripped up all the old carpet, sealed the wood, bought a lovely remnant to replace it with, and got the crib put together. All in one weekend. As you can see, Gizmo decided to help distribute sealer on the floor...with her face...and then all of her. She is now partially shaved in the styling of a K-9 cancer patient. Also, I've started picking out fabric for the crib bedding. It is not really at all like the vision painted below, but I like it and will make it work. I'm stuck on the stupid stripes. I can't find any stripes that match or acceptably contrast the fabric I have. Suggestions for patterns and colors would be much appreciated.

Scheming

It is a tad early and all, but I think it's never too soon to start planning. I found this crib on KSL that I adored, because it matched the motif of the house perfectly. Finally, after days of psycho dialing the woman, she called this morning and I sent Kelly to fetch it. Only $80! I've had visions of blue and brown damask dancing about my brain pan for awhile, and I seem to have sold myself on this particular design. Kathy, who is so gifted at the loom, has graciously accepted my invitation to "help" her make said bedding. Why should I buy it, when there is such talent to be had? While I'm at it, anyone know of any old wooden rocking chairs that can be parted with?

Alien Baby

We had our almost 13 week appointment yesterday. It's amazing that in almost 4 weeks, babykins has gone from being a blob-ish figure to an actual baby! We were able to see tiny details like little fingers and toes, eyes, nose and mouth. For a while, baby looked poised to be suckling on thumbs, but could barely hold still long enough to maintain said position. A wiggly one this is. The 3-D picture leaves some to be desired and begs the question: am I giving birth to a duck or baby Klingon? Thankfully the doc seems to think that it will be born with all its features intact. Baby is just over 2 inches long and mama and baby are measuring right on target to deliver Valentine's day. The doc says that hopefully by the next appointment, we'll be able to see the gender.
Ps. Kelly thinks he can see a peener in the 3-D picture.

All the Rage

After 8 years, we've finally decided to jump on the bandwagon. As hard as we've tried, we just don't seem to be getting any younger. I'm told that it is a good idea to have children before you're old enough to tote them around on your Jazzy. So brace yourself world, this Gerber baby is on its way! Stay tuned...the little peanut is due on Valentine's Day (for now).
Ps. When one is truly in doubt, it is usually a good idea to have 5 or 6 tests under your belt. One can never be too sure. And I assure you that the spots are water, not pee.

We Have Lift Off

I think, and Kelly will correct me if I'm wrong, but the black one got up to about 600 feet and the amazingly awesome pink and green one got up to about 1200 feet.
Perhaps this weekend we will build a rocket unlike any other to test the very limit of the space time continuum.

Building Rockets-es

Ahhh...savoring a beautiful Sunday morning, building explosives and other such projectiles. My most accomplished contribution to this project...picking the green and pink paint. Rocketeering could be an addictive hobby.
